Production has kicked off on the live-action adaptation of Supermassive's PS4 horror title, Until Dawn, with Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions and PlayStation Studios, unveiling the first set photo from the film, confirming that production is underway.
The cinematic adaptation of Until Dawn is being helmed by David F. Sandberg, known for his work on Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation, and Shazam!. The screenplay and production are in the hands of Gary Dauberman, who has been involved with the Annabelle franchise and co-wrote both It and its sequel.
The cast of Until Dawn includes Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli, and Peter Stormare, with Stormare reprising his role as Dr. Hill from the game, making him the only actor to transition from the video game to the big screen. Additional cast members include Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A'zion.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sandberg shared, "Following my work on Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation, I've been eager to return to the genre, and this film delves into various subgenres of horror to create the most terrifying experience possible."
He added, "The movie captures the essence of the game while introducing new characters, offering newcomers a solid standalone introduction to the universe, while also providing something fresh for fans of the original game."
